  1. Hey there all cell phone owners. I'm looking at getting a LG 535 Slider
cell phone. This is offered through Telus here in Canada. I'm reading
consumer reports about it but wanted to get your views on it.

    thanks for any help

Can't speak to the exact model, but my wife's LG kinda sucks. It needs
to be charged evey 2-3 days (with little use) and won't hold a charge
well when off. She had to return the first one she got because it
stopped working in digital mode after a week.
I like my Samsung (SCH A650). We have crappy cell coverage here, but it
still works most places around the city.

I had one for about two months. The damn battery life is like 1/2 a
day. The BB can go without a recharge for a week (sometimes more as
long as there is a signal). And talk time is amazing as well.

Got a LG VX3200 which replaced my Startac when it died. The 3200 is a basic
phone with no extra gimmicks and tri-mode capability. It is a tiny phone so
it fits in my pocket with no discomfort. Has been reliable and holds a
charge better than my old Startac.

An added bonus is that I stopped carrying my Palm after getting an
aftermarket software that allows the 3200 to be sync with my office Outlook
    Calendar and Client Contact information.

It's also cheap so I don't have to worry about destroying it when I crash on
    my mtb.

I have neither, but our CEO just recently switched from a BB to a Treo
(not sure which one, but probably the latest/greatest) and he absolutely
loves it. He loved his BB before and I'm unsure of what prompted the
switch but I think it was a better deal on a different provider.
I can't imagine him living with battery time like that so maybe they
have improved. He's really a gadget geek (and he's got pretty high
    standards.

I have a Motorola v710 which is a pretty cool phone (and crappy camera)
that Verizon has intentionally crippled. They made it so you can't add
your own ringtones, or download your photos from it so you will use
their pay service instead. Of course, I did a little research and
figured out how I could hack it and I now have some crazy ringtones to
annoy my coworkers with (death metal and a weird Zap Mama sample). I
like that it has an extendable antenna and is a tri mode phone. We need
all the help we can get here where the cell service is consistently lousy.

You're so right. Good thing it supports mp3 ringtones. I went for some
Taproot, who are from my old home town. My (older) boss thought it
sounded like a modem handshake which I found amusing.
