No. The Yankees already won the pennant. The best that the Red Sox
could do is win the game tomorrow and tie. The rules say that if there
is a tie then the winner is the team with the best head to head record
during the regular season which would be the Yankees 10-9.

If the Indians had tied both the Yanks and Red Sox then there *would*
be a tie breaking game to determine both the winner of the division
and who would be the Wild Card (loser plays Cleveland and winner gets
Wild Card).

I should add that if Cleveland wins and Red Sox lose tomorrow then
since they both end up with identical records they would play a
single game at Fenway (location determined by prior coin toss) with
the winner being the Wild Card.

Indians lost today and the loser of the AL East (Yankees or Red Sox) are
guaranteed to get the American League Wild Card slot. So deciding which
playoff position you are - AL East or Wild Card - is the only point of
the playoff game.

But that's just logic speaking. Speaking from a marketing point of
view, even a pointless game between the Red Sox and Yankees will bring
in massive amounts of cash.

And in the meantime, I can't breathe very well and my stomach is upset.
I love the Red Sox but they are trying to kill me.
