Oh dear...didn't like that at all, quickly back to Agent 2 for me, or
more specifically Free Agent. One gets the feeling Free Agent is not
to be encouraged, which to fair, who can blame them.

What's the attraction of Agent over Thunderbird other than the pleasure
of paying for it? And what do you get for your money in Agent over Free
Agent?

Dunno about Thunderbird, but Agent does email whereas Free Agent just
does NGs.

Probably not a lot. I use 40tude dialog for news:

is free.

popular client after Doubtlook Express.

The difference is: I prefer it. I find it easier to navigate using
the keyboard, I prefer its thread displays, and in the end I bought it
years ago and the upgrade to 3.0 was free.

I was on Thunderbird for 6 months, but it never quite did what I
wanted. By pure chance I stumbled across MesNews last week, it's
everything I wanted and more...and free to boot!

According to the "group stats" function it has, there is only one other
MESNEWS user out there, come on own up.I don't know who you are!

If anyone is not happy with their reader I say give it a try...I
certainly wont be looking back. Stats are way cool too!

This is what I use. I use Thunderbird for mail but I found it to be rather
feature poor for newsgroup use.

For example, when I last used it, there was no way of making Thunderbird
flag threads that I was participating in. I accomplish this functionality
in Dialog by defining some scoring rules. Threads that I post in receive a
score of 50. If there is reply to one of my posts the thread receives a
score of 100. These threads remain at the top of the message list until the
messages are purged.
