  1. For those who remember the MTV animated series, it's coming out as a
live-action flick with Charlize Theron in the lead role:

Never seen the series. But I like her.

Took the kids to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy last weekend. Crappy
movie...don't bother. I wouldn't even rent it on video. The trailer looked
    cute but the movie sucked.

Unfortunately, after checking some Google Images, it appears that
Theron will be dressed like this:

Unfortunate. Aeon Flux is supposed to dress like a S&M fantasy.

Exactly. Her character begs for the type of stylistic treatment that
Robert Rodriguez gave to "Sin City."

She's looking a bit chubby in that pic. Look at her lower back. Maybe it's
just how the shot was taken, but you'd think a professional photographer
    could do better.

How do black people in the States respond to being described as
"African Americans"? It always appears patronisingly offensive to me,
and somehow dilutes their citizenship. The same goes for Native
    Americans!!

The perpetrators of this Politically Correct nonsense have much to
    answer for.

    Ugh! It's Monday!! ;o)

I went to Sin City the week before. It was the first movie I actually
walked out on since about 1983. You couldn't *pay* me eight bucks to sit
and watch it in it's entirety.

I look forward to Hollywood buggering up yet another animation/comic
series. I have Aeon Flux on VHS from a long time ago on a continent far,
    far away...

    Really?

Technically I guess that's true, her being from South Africa, but she's
not black or mixed race, so the meaning behind African American doesn't
    really apply.

For those of us who'd read one or more of the books, it was
impressive. For those who didn't know what to expect, particularly
from Frank Miller, maybe not so much.

What does that have to do with race? Nationality has nothing to do

There is no screen writer credited in the films. They shot the whole thing
using the comic books as story boards in their entirity. They then cut
scenes to make it flow. The also shot the whole thing digitally and Quentin
Tarantino directed the scene in the car for the princely sum of $1.

I loved it. My wife hasn't done more than look at the covers and she
    thought it was great, too.

Exactly. The political correctness of thinking of "African-American"
as universally "black" creates a racism all its own. White people
    born in Africa are Africans, and most are damned proud to be African;
treating them as though they aren't "real Africans" because of their
Caucasian ancestry is purely and simply racism.

If you were refering to nationality, then she'd be termed a South
African American. There happens to be more than one nation on the
    continent of Africa.
