  1. Hi

I've just been into the my local Waterstones, (Wrexham) and
the have an offer of 3 for the price of 2 on all OS Maps.
The offer applies to all travel books also. Other branches
will likely be doing the same.

They're doing that in Northampton too (as I found out
today)... Trouble is - how many do you want? I wanted two,
and they only had one of the two! Whod've thought the
Berwyns would be so popular! Still... They did offer to
order the other one for me which could take "up to two
weeks" to arrive. Decided to buy the one and worry about the
    other later...

If you wanted laminated, and are headed for popular beauty
spots, tracklogs have their remaining stock at reduced
prices too (even if you only wanted one) .. see

Thanks for the link there GSV... A new one on me and it
looks quite good... (which makes a change!) Need to spend a
bit of time there to find out wha's what...

Their software works fine (so far) .. however their map data
is a trifle expensive (especially if you want the 1:25k
stuff, which I did) .. At least you can buy an area centred
on where you want. As usual, map printing is limited to A4,
as far as I can see, but that works OK for me, since I can
usually get enough detail onto an A4 page.

Suck it and see - their free demo works fine too. The 3d-
view is a bit of a gimmick (and can chew up inordinate
amounts of computer power), but it's fun to play with.

Nope, wasn't anywhere near there, honest. I'm sure
Google groups can tell me when I went GSV-ish. .. hmm,
looks like about 2001. Certainly post-dated 'To Say
    Nothing of the Dog'.

    Chris

There has to be a "Get Orf Moi Land" and a "Topographically
    Embarrassed" out there...
