Opening Ceremonies

I suspect few athletes competing tomorrow were at the ceremonies. In my
opinion, the first day of competition should be 2 days after the ceremony.
Of course, I'm sure budget considerations would put the kibosh on this...

Not really, as far as having enough athletes in place. The Village starts
housing athletes probably up to 10 days before the start of the Games. I'm
not even sure if adding a day to the time of the Games themselves would make
much of a difference, considering some events (soccer?) already started
yesterday.

I'm watching the CNBC live coverage at 2am EST, they showed some of the womens
soccer team loading onto busses, a bit bleary eyed at 9am local time ... 9am
and bleary eyed? Sounds like the hit the disco after the opening ceremonies!
Meanwhile, the rowers are already on the water.

Note how small the GB contingent was at the opening ceremony. All the
track and field athletes are still in the holding camp in Cyprus.

LVM skipped them to stay refreshed.
