seem sensible to just focus on the rest of life, I think there is a need to
stay focused on losing weight to continue to maintain steady progress.
I guess my current danger is that dieting is becoming boring. I get bored,
and I lose focus.
Yep.
But that is just a challenge in itself, to move from diet-obsession to
a living-diet.
Back in June-July I decided to basically enter maintenance for summer.
I grew a veggie garden and that meant a lot of carbs to eat every day.
All good food but it would up my carbs on a rgular basis. I lost 3-4
lbs, june, july, even september. But OCtober and November I basically
lost about a pound. A bit nerve wracking, but I've got other stuff to
deal with. I definitely dropped my focus and intensity on dieting and
my weight loss slowed. But I think timing is really important in life.
Main point is I'm not gaining and I'm eating plenty of things that I
always enjoyed-including desserts and more carby meals. Yeah I want to
lose another 30-40 lbs, but I also want these changes to be permanent.
I have to say I'm starting to really feel I won't give this up. I do
go out and have carby meals, but I'm balancing them with good days,
and when I can, I'm getting a little more activity in to compensate.
Most days it just feels normal, not a diet. Come Jan-Feb I may be able
to buckle down more and push some extra pounds off, but as long as I
maintain I consider myself a success.
Learning to cook your meals is really important. I'm experimentign
with a pumpkin cheesecake. I just tried reducing the fat more to lower
calories (cheesecake is pretty rich) but the taste was too off. My
first try was really tasty and delicious, even to non-low-carbers. I
think you have to stretch your taste buds and experiment (actually I
believe that in life in general-not just for dieters).
