I started working out again about 2 weeks ago. My goal is primarily to
decrease body fat and strengthen up a bit (I am not looking for size
increase). Currently I am 6'3 190lbs but have not worked out in years,
and have more body fat than I would like. According to most of the
accounts I have read I should be losing about 1 pound of a week. I have
been eating 4-6 times a day (smaller meals, more protein) and have been
watching my calories (about 2000 a day). Additionally, I have been
doing the following routine at the gym:
Mon: Chest, Arms (biceps, triceps) + 15-20 min cardio
Tues: 45 minutes cardio
Wed: Shoulders, Back + 15-20 min cardio
Thur: 45 minutes cardio
Fri: Legs + 15-20 min cardio
Sat: 45 min cardio or rest
Sun: rest
Over the past two weeks my weight has not fluctuated one ounce. Not
even the one pound a week I was aiming for. Is it likely I am losing
fat and adding leaner muscle tissue that weighs more, that, in turn,
balances my weight out? Or does it take longer to start noticing small
differences? I know everyone is different, but I suppose my main
concern is knowing that I am on the right track.
Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
-D
