I've been cooking up a storm all day. I woke up this morning to find the refrigerator had finally died. Everything in the freezer was still really cold, except my melted sugar free Bomb Pops and Steven's ice cream. So I threw a pork tenderloin in the oven, 2 chicken breasts, 4 loin chops and a pound of ground chuck went on the grill. I put everything in the deep freezer downstairs except the tenderloin. It went into a cooler with some dry ice and I'll warm it up for a late dinner this evening. I didn't have a lot in the fridge part so no huge losses there.
Later will be shopping for a new fridge. I think I'm also going to pick up one of those dorm sized refrigerators to use downstairs and I can use it as a temp fridge for milk, butter etc. until the new fridge is delivered.

Sorry to hear it! I have two refrigerators. One's a modern sub-zero the other is a 1959 "three door" side-by-side (2 fridge, 1 freezer doors) "Generous Electric" model, residing in the basement, OFF for over 10 years. It's a wall mounted refrigerator and PINK!!! Those were the days (to music)! 🙂

No clue as of yet. I think a Maytag side by side but I'm not positive at this point. One thing for sure, it better have an ice maker 😉

A pink fridge? Wow... a genuine antique. I'm just grateful I have the deep freezer. Everything I cooked can be frozen.

Have you considered a model with the French doors at the top, with a bottom freezer? They all have ice makers, but at least one has an ice dispenser in the door.

I remember those. When I was a kid, one neighbor had a GE like that and another had a Kelvinator half-fridge, half-freezer. Humongous contraptions. They probably cost a fortune to run.
I have my grandmother's old GE "monitor top" from 1928 that still runs and has never had a service call. It uses methyl formate as the refrigerant, and surprisingly costs rather little run. We use it as a second fridge when needed.

Actually, I'm not sure if I've ever posted a picture on rfc before, but I know for sure I haven't posted any of food. I've posted pictures of my cats on alt.cats before, and I may have posted a cat picture on rfc last year. I don't take many pictures, and I've never photographed food.
