Today a nurse called from the office of the endo who fired me. My thyroid is up (again) since the August test and they want to test me again before Christmas and probably start me on something for it. Me: That's nice, I'll be sure to stop by for a copy of those results so I have them when I see my new endocrinologist in a few weeks. Nurse: Oh, I didn't realize you were changing doctors, just fax over a records transfer request and we'll send your file to the new place. Me: No thanks, I'd prefer the new doctor have redacted test results so he doesn't form any opinions based on the letterhead. Nurse: Why do you feel you need to change doctors? Me: Well honey, I was there on Monday. In less than two minutes' time the doctor whose name is on the door called me fat, lazy and stupid. Her underling flat-out lied to me about my supplies. The doctor told me to see a different doctor. Why do *you* think I'm taking my business elsewhere? She said she'd have somebody farther up the food chain call me back. I told her not to bother, but please do go ahead and dupe my file, I'll be in tomorrow my signed release and cash in hand. Sorry to read about this. Many physicians are growing more and more frustrated about their patients gaining (instead of losing) weight after being told to "eat right and exercise." Their frustration does not justify their lack of tactfulness, however. Sorry to read about this. Many physicians are growing more and more
