reruptured my quads tendon again. But the X-Ray says there's nothing

Ouch! X-rays sometimes don't tell the whole story. Can your get an MRI scan?
(i.e. do you have private healthcare or suchlike?)

My dodgy knee needed and MRI to reveal probs, instead of the usual 10 month
wait I got it done the same afternoon after Mr. Consultant examnied it - all
due to company private healthcare (phew!).

I hope your leg gets better soon & you will enjoy the cycling all the more
when it does.

Well, it's not as if we pay for NHS healthcare is it?? Harumph!!!!

I know in Holland they have a very good healthcare system, although they
pay more taxes. Trouble is, I'm sure if we paid more taxes (NI) the
money would just disappear. Cynical? Me?

The service has definitely improved but nowhere near what I would expect

"Banner" catalogue, you'll see what I mean. Most stuff is double the price
of normal office suppliers.

I went into the knee clinic on Tuesday and was admitted straight away. I
was seen by about five doctors who all agreed with me that it was a
re-rupture.

The thing the gave it away, is that if you press just above the knee
cap, there was nothing there.

Surgery on Wednesday, home on Friday, 3 weeks of cast, followed by
intensive physio I think. By my reckoning, I should be returning to work
in about 5 weeks. Which means looking for a bike probably in about 8 weeks.

Two months time, and I'll have a bigger budget for a bike. Hopefully.

Not to mention overpriced computer software and IT infrastructures.
Though some of it, is indeed beneficial. It's quite amazing to go to my
GP and see him call up all of my notes on his screen in an instant.
Should be able to get all my notes from all hospitals.

There are too many managers though. Even IT managers. One Hospital my
company does work for, if we want to look something up from a database,
it takes two weeks for us to get permision through a "Change Request"
procedure and it goes through several managers and off to various meetings.

[censored] that the hospital I went to though took the co-codamol and
co-drydamol and my thyroxine off me! They made a mistake and think im on
125 mcg and not 150 mcg (how am I going to get 150 mcg prescribed by my
GP unless my GP says I need 150!), and then there's like 3 weeks of
painkillers that the hospitals stole from me! Gotta go back to my GP now
and assure him Im not addicted to pain killers!

It's a similar picture in schools. Much of the extra cash has gone on
administration and expensive IT infrastructure, like interactive
whiteboards and 100MB broadband.

As I understand it, they use these computer=based whiteboard thingies
because kids started sniffing the whiteboard markers when they moved
away from blackboards and chalk.

You control the screen pointer via a special pen and magnetic board,
onto which is projected the computer screen.

£500 Dell digital projectors are very worthwhile. It means an entire
class can read the computer screen.
