No, it's not. Most of the guys in our club have developed a good ability to
shoot a "snot rocket" out the side of one nostril without hitting anyone
else. Yuk. Me, I just carry a bandanna in a jersey or jacket pocket and
blow the traditional way. As temps cool, the ole schnoz runs a lot more
freely, that's for sure.

I did some testing and found out that on the days I had milk with cereal for
breakfast before a ride, I had increased mucus production in the nose...
Now, before a ride I don't eat the milk. Strangely enough, though, soy milk
does not cause this problem.

Just because someone doesn't eat milk in the morning doesn't mean they don't
the rest of the day. Or is that the only time you think people are "allowed"
to have milk??? I am a huge fan of cheese and I eat sour cream practically

I've been told by my doctor that milk allergies are fairly common. Increased mucus production is likely a mild allergic reaction. It sounds like you've found a good way around the problem, so long as it doesn't cause you problems at other times, too.

without being a biblical scholar.

I think I'll get that book. I was listening to the author of a new book on
the radio a couple of days ago. He has re-translated the first 5 books. He
said that "adama" meant "human" not "male". People need to remember that
politics played a part in the translation and in the original writings even
that long ago. Their biases got written into what we today think of as the
Bible. My "test" for fundamentalists is to mention that there are two
versions of the creation story in Genesis. They invariably will say, "Not
in MY Bible!" which shows as we say in Texas, a faith a mile wide and an
inch deep.

I will suggest another book. Isaac Asimov wrote two books on the
subject (well, that I know of), one on the Old Testament and one on
the New. They are not meant in any way to denigrate believers in the
Bible, but are written to examine the writings compared to the other
writings from that time, and explore the historical significance.

I read volume one and it is fascinating reading. I remember that there
really was a Garden of Eden, but it was the Garden In Eden, which was
a real place. Oh, I see that you can now buy a single volume
containing both books. Good deal.

Amazing how a thread that starts out asking how to get rid of extra snot
turns into a discussion of creationism...someone really needs to do a study
on the "evolution" of usenet threads :-)
