  1. Hi,

I recently got interested in following bike racing after seeing Lance
Armstrong win his 6th Tour de France last year. I'm a newbie and I'm still
trying to learn about the sport.

I was at a bookstore today and in ROAD magazine I saw a big layout
featuring cyclist Omer Kem. He sounds really good. Could he win the Tour
de France after Lance retires? Thanks.

I think Wilston Pucket will be the next champion.

    Thank you.

    That is all.

Of anything in particular? And do you know what his favorite Subway
    sandwich is?

    suz,
if you are going to defend the subway guys here you're gonna
need a template or something because it's going to be too time
consuming - are you a girlfriend, groupie, or just a Subway fan?

Kem did post here and defended himself and his team awhile back,
and made some good points, but now they're busy actually racing, and
probably don't need defending from some of these guys,
myself included I guess, that like to bust on people, you know, for
    fun.

    Suz-e-q,
You've got to learn the ground rules here. That original post was weak
and didn't warrant a response. It would have gone away with nary a
chuckle. But now you've gone and stirred the pot and perpetuated the
thread with an equally weak retort.

Don't kick a hornet's nest, Suz. Team Subway is a team of sandwich
makers right now. Unless they get on the podium in an NRC race, we're
gonna club them to death like a brutal seal hunt.

You GREENPEACE types are gonna get hit with a whale harpoon if you're
    not careful.

    Thanks,

Not so fast, DA74. The subtle humor of my joke-post was apparently too
sophisticated for the r.b.r. hoi polloi. The dig was really aimed at
ROAD magazine for singling out someone with a short palmares when there
are other unsung riders out there who are more deserving of a mag profile.

Great find. That thread is pure gold. Omer is just begging to tell
all those freds that he's a pro. Then BeerCo blows some sunshine up
Omer's coot by erroneously telling him he's got one of the highest ever
known w/kg ratios. Then those two coaches' chubbs start throbbing and
the spunkfest ensues, with TdF Champ & hour record predictions
    abounding.

I personally think Omer just needs to recalibrate his PowerTap. If
he's really throwing out 6.3 w/kg then it would have shown at the Stage
One TT up Glendora Mtn Road in San Dimas. No excuses. With that kind
of wattage he could do a top 20 in that stage sick, early season shape,
late season shape, winter shape, stoned, drunk, stoned and drunk or
whatever excuse Omer tells Suz to give us. If she says he showed up 3
minutes late to the start I'll dig up the Rubidoux results which I'll
    bet were worse.

BTW, he came in 71st giving up 2'12" to Moninger (13'33"😉 in 6.1 km.
That's almost 22 seconds per km. He didn't even beat Subway phantom
sprinter nemesis Chuck-D up the hill, who phoned it in like Cipo in the
    Pyrenees.
    Wigga pleeez.
