  1. I got a complaint on my omelet this morning that the stuff I
put in it was boring (shredded Kraft Mexican cheese and bits
    of raw sweet onion).

Anyone have any simple ideas of things to put into an
    omelet?

    Thanks

Oh man, the sky's the limit. I like onions, peppers,
mushrooms (all grilled), sometimes spinach and cream cheese,
bits of chopped grilled ham or sausage, etc. etc. etc.
Obviously, it's a mix 'n match sort of thing; I certainly
don't add them all at the same time - usually one or two of
the items is enough, with maybe some sharp cheddar cheese
(unless I'm having the spinach and cream cheese combo - then
no other cheese is needed, obviously).

I suggest you leave the pre-shredded stuff in the store and
buy a nice block of good cheddar cheese; the difference in
taste will definitely take your omelet from ho-hum and
boring to a whole 'nother level.

Cheese and Onion- simple enough -- perhaps you tell them
to 'stuff' it themselves. Quite frankly, if someone wants
to make me an omelet - I'm happy with what they make.

  4. Pretty much what Donna said ... plus jalapeno peppers,
    sliced not diced.

Ham & cheddar with mushrooms Crab, asparagus, monterey jack
cheese with hollandaise spinach, swiss, mushroom peppers,
sausage, onion, salsa shrimp, colby jack, peppers

The list is endless. I can't believe you have to ask!

Strictly speaking, you can put anything in an omelet. I had
an absolutely fantastic one (several times!) last week that
included steamed spinach, crumbled bacon and cream cheese
    for a filling.

Grilling/sauteeing the onions first would have made a big
    difference.

ooh, that's an easy one. ;-)

    Just about anything...

Last nights leftovers, chopped well are always good, (I
nearly always have left over stir fry on hand), but the more
common things are chopped tomoatoes, ham, sausage, chorizo,
chedder cheese, _grilled_ onions, (fresh are usually
boring), asparagus, celery, bacon, peppers of various
    types.....

    I could go on. :-)

I agree. Sauteed, almost carmelized would have been

One of my favorites is mozzarella, a couple of mushrooms
snitched from the box for tonites dinner and a goodly
sprinkle of tarragon. Pizza omelets are good too. Use
tomatoes, crumbled italian sausage or pepperoni, sprinkle of
garlic powder, basil, and marjoram or oregano, parmesan
sprinkle to finish. And a few hot pepper flakes. If you
ain't got tomatoes, use ketchup at the end. Edrena

    Raw onion? No no no.

Ok, one medium onion, chopped and sauteed for at least 5
minutes using butter or oil over medium heat. While that's
cooking chop up a couple of large cloves of garlic and toss
em' in for the last minute while stirring.

Of course you might want to throw in a little salsa. That's
    always good.

You're right - I'd find your original omelet kind of
    boring too.

The first thing I would do would be to tell the person who
complained that if they don't like it then they can fix
their own omelet anyway they please.

Perhaps you could use sour cream or salsa as a garnish. I
find either of those spices up the taste of a omlette.

  19. Mix some pesto into the eggs before cooking.

End result looks a little strange (brings to mind the Dr.
    Seuss book) but tastes great!
