Tilapia, is, AFAIK, considered a "low oil" fish and poor source of omega 3s. Best choices include
Alaskan salmon, herring/sardines. Other oily fish my have problems with mercury (mackerel, tuna,
swordfish), PCBs (farmed salmon).
If you're going to get your omega 3's from seafood, salmon is the best choice. Make sure the salmon
is fresh caught and not farm raised as farm raised has been shown to have less fatty acids and be
more contaminated than fresh.
Other foods high in omega 3's are grass feed beef and lamb. Most of this comes from New Zealand and
Argentina. Trader Joe's sells this type of meat as do many online sources.

Another possibility is Menhaden fish oil capsules. Google Menhaden, and you'll find facts, info, and
suppliers. We get our omega 3s from Menhaden fish oil capsules, give them to our dogs too. I be-
lieve that you'll get less mercury that way.

What is tilapia anyway? I mean, does it have another name? I couldn't find it in the USDA food
database. Thanks!

how's the profile on my new favorite fish, Chilean Sea Bass ? Whole Foods sells it locally and it's
about twice the price of salmon per pound

Also a good choice for omega-3s, with approximately 0.9 grams/omega 3 per serving.
Tilapia has a textutre and taste simlar to flounder. Its not a good source of omega 3 fatty acids.
