Not selected for the Italian team. I like:
He was selected but than decided to withdraw because of an injury.
He had been replaced by Paolini.
sorry if I missed it, but is there any inside laundry on Rebellin's
non-nomination? pretty mystifying.
also, anybody have the profile for both the RR and the TT handy?
thanks
Alexander

I'm a Van Petegem fan, but he'll only go well if it's raining.

Cycling news again. Is there nothing they can't do?
BTW, cycling starts Saturday at 12:45 Athens time. A little cooler today
than yesterday but still warm. My pick is Ullrich.

This may have to be revised as the Iranian team has yet to announce its
selections, but for now:
1. Valverde
2. Totschnig
3. Klöden
Whoever it is, they are bound to be on drugs, right? Can't win without
them, right? So, we should launch an immediate full-scale expose on
whoever the podium finishers are to set things straight. Certainly
Bettini and Bartoli must be on the juice to have won so many races.
Winning is proof of drugging, right?

Vinokourov.
The roads were closed on the RR course today and all the athletes (the ones
in town) were out training. Great stuff unless your trying to get a cab
from within the course. Thank God for public transport. See you Saturday
in Kolonaki.

Ballerini is applying the lesson from his last successful experiment;
everyone will work with Bettini in the back of their minds. Add Rebellin to
the mix and who has to work for who?

He could have used Rebellin to confuse the issue and make everyone else
wonder who to mark, but what do I know?

Maybe I have been pating to much attention to the World Cup races bu what
exactly what has Vinokourov done in the last few weeks to garner so many
people to pick him as a contender?

Cyclingnews, 8/9/04, won a bunch sprint and a 19km tt:
Vino set for Athens
T-Mobile did have something to celebrate in the Rothaus Regio-Tour
International, which finished today in Kaiserstuhl. Alexandre Vinokourov
won the race ahead of his teammate Stephan Schreck, while T-Mobile's
Cadel Evans, Tomas Konecny and Paolo Savoldelli finished 5th, 6th and
7th respectively. Vinokourov won two stages along the way, and looks set
for Athens next week. "This is the confirmation that I am back again
after my injury period," Vinokourov was quoted by Radsport-news.com.
"This final stage was perfect training - in Greece it's similarly hot."
Yeah, it was an easy race for T-mob, but Vino is always good.

Get both of them in the break and they can take turns attacking on
Lycabettus Hill. In theory.
