  1. What happened to OLN Canada's cycling coverage? I thought they were
showing coverage every Sunday, including the Giro? But there was no
coverage today, just Pilot Guide reruns.

I would shell out the $6 to watch OLN USA's live streaming video, but
according to the website --> http://tinyurl.com/b7gkq it's available
    in the US only.

*sigh*, I've come to the conclusion that if a sport isn't played on
ice, nobody in Canada gives a [censored]. Pretty sad considering there are
two, count 'em, two Canucks riding in the Giro this year.

    Jason,

You're not alone. Where I live, my local TV comes out of Greenville, SC.
George Hincapie lives in Greenville and the area is quite a cycling hotbed
.... but you'll absolutely NEVER hear anything about cycling on the local
media. If it ain't NASCAR, it ain't [censored] down here. I've sent them e-mails
when George wins a race or does well in Paris-Roubaix. There's never any
    acknowledgement nor any coverage.

So I'm not surprised two Canucks riding in the Giro don't get a rise out of
the Canadians. For your folks to be interested, there's gotta be ice. For
our folks to be interested, there's gotta be wheels ... like on the homes
    they live in.

  5. Spaceman,
Use that link that was posted a few days ago under the OLN coverage
post, to get to RAI Sport. It's www.beelinetv.com. Select "492" for
    RAI Sport.

I taped the OLN show today (I'm in California - the other "CA"😉, and I'm
going to watch it right now. And I've signed up for the OLN Streaming
Video (they claim I can replay each stage at will for up to two
    months). But...

I've been waiting for today's stage to be repeated, and I've seen some
    Women's Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Gymnastics / Dance, a Football
(Soccer) match played in a nearly empty stadium (but that didn't stop
the camera from finding a fight in the stands), and a talk show that had
a sailing contest going on in the background.

Having compared the program listed at www2.raisport.rai.it/news/tv.html
to what has been broadcast, it appears that the "ciclismo" will start at
22:20 PDT (7:20 Central European Daylight Time). The coverage is only
about an hour, but that is infinitely more than you're getting now!

How can they stop someone from Canada subscribing. All it takes is a credit
card. The bigger problem is that they dont stream on the internet on the
days when they are broadcasting on TV. So you dont get coverage of the most
    exciting stages.

I've been checking out that RAI feed for the past few days. However
    that broadcast schedule at http://www2.raisport.rai.it/news/tv.htm
seems to be inaccurate. "Replica" means "repeated" doesn't it?

According to that schedule they should be repeating coverage of stage
1 at 7:20am, which is 1:20am Eastern Daylight Time (I think). Yet
they are showing men's basketball right now.

I tuned in to RAI TRE yesterday afternoon but it was scrambled.

I think we need to just send on mass, a whole lot of complaint (flame
mail if you want) to CTV, TSN and the Canadian OLN network and tell them
we're [censored]. I have a list for air dates from the Canadian OLN, and the
Giro is on it. They're screwing with us for sure. What gets me more
[censored] is that they 'claim' to care about cycling and run cycling
headlines on their main page. For what purpose? They hardly even show
anything on TV? SO what's the point?

Flame them all. They need to know that we want to watch this and that
were mad that they've (yet again) changed the schedual again without
warning. They'll prob never know unless they get a huge response. I
    doubt that they read newsgroups.

On a side note. It would be nice if someone put up some torrents of the
show so anyone with high-speed could watch them. Otherwise, you can get
live audio streaming thru Eurosport. They've had fantastic coverage for
    years.

    anyway, that's my 2 cents.

I was thinking of sending them a polite, but critical, email later today to let
them know how I feel. I too remember the list of air dates for OLN Canada's
cycling coverage, they were posted here in rbr back in March (see
http://tinyurl.com/bada4 ), and the Giro was included on the list. So was
Milan-San Remo for that matter, yet OLN Canada didn't air it. Maybe they just
have something against Italian cycling, ;-).

If you know how to use newsbin files, and have access to binary groups on
Usenet, then you might want to check out abm -->

You're right - I had no luck trying to catch the cycling on RAISport so
far, either. After the basketball, they showed an England - Italy
soccer match. I finally gave up.

Not to rub salt in your wounds, but the OLN streaming video was pretty
good this morning. You should try to sign up, as someone posted below.
You can watch live or watch an archived copy, so you haven't missed
anything yet. The sign up is supposed to be good for two months.

I believe the beelinetv.com stuff is delayed somewhat. I was
watching the prologue several hours after cyclingnews had
the final results listed. That is assuming RAI Sport was
    showing it live.

I would sign up for the OLN streaming video, but the website says that it is
available in the US only, and I'm in Canada. Have any canucks here tried
signing up for the OLN streaming video? Did they accept your credit card info,
    or reject it?

I doubt you could access the stream from Canada even if you could
design a way to sign up, though that depends on how serious they are
about it. If they are serious about limiting it to the US and go by
the results of an IP trace, or blocking IP's routes originating from
    Canada, you'd be SOL.
