I appreciate the help. I have taken a few picks. I can email if you'd
like to check it out. It looks very similar to a Panther or Phantom.
Painted rims though, instead of chrome. Apparently I'm also missing the
tank as well as the fenders. Where can I find the serial #? It says new
departure on the rear hub if that helps. There is a number on the rear
left of the frame but it doesn't have any letters only numbers. Maybe
it's not a Schwinn. It does have the Schwinn badge though.

Best bet is to put the photos online in a gallery. That way, the maximum
number of folks can refer to them and compare notes.

Flickr.com offers a free option and is rather easy to come to grips with.

I'm starting to think it's probably a little older than I previously
thought based on the images on oldroads.com. 1931-1940? Kind of like a
La Salle or Henderson?
Hopefully, you bike guys will know right away. And maybe tell me what
it's missing and where I can find parts. As well as a rough idea of
value.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about it. I've narrowed it down and the paint
scheme matches the Schwinn Hornet. I have not seen one yet with a
chrome chainguard though. Now to figure out what year it is so I can
try to find some parts.
