    I have to complain about this. I am training at my cadence/HR and I come to this guy that if I didnt pass would totally screw up my day. So I pass when there is no risk of traffic and continue merrily on my way. UNTIL he decides that it would be fun to play a game of cat and mouse. I hit a stop light (and I am one of THOSE that actually stop) ande he gets the green while still spinning. Up to my cadence again and I pass him one more time. Well this time he decides to mash past, then slow down in front of me. I pass again. I hit the pedals a little harder, but he wants to dog me! HE GETS IN FRONT AGAIN! At this point I wish I knew more curse words in Japanese....seriously if you are going SLOWER GET OUT OF THE WAY. Isn`t this just common courtesy?

    I guess old men hate to get passed by a girl...
    Side note: I have yet to see another femaile cyclist here...gettin kinda lonely on all these solo rides...

    Ride hard, pass hard, and get outta my way.

    Sounds like he just wanted to meet you. Maybe he was just trying to coax you into a sprint.

    You know, maybe it is humiliating to get passed by a girl, OR maybe he was in the mood for a lilttle sport, wanted to mix it up a little. Probably had no idea you were seriously training. When you're a casual cyclist who rides alone, sometimes you want to play a little with other cyclists.

    My son got his butt whooped at his judo tournament by a girl. She threw him on his head and he actually cried on the judo mat ! I think he was a little humiliated at first, but then I said "you know, some girls are pretty tough, that's the way it is." He seemed to accept that just fine!

    So was this little old Japanese man in cycling gear or a suit, or what?

    I always let people pass me, but if they're going fast, I try to keep up with them for a while.

    Girl-Power!

    He was in bike shorts, on a decent bike, and everytime he would get in front of me (slowing down) would eat a peice of candy and almost sway into traffic. I can understand a little `play` between cyclists, but this was blatent [censored] behavior. He slowed down far too much(35k/h to 20k/h) to be considered `egging` me into a race.
    I like fun and a little competition, but this guy wasn`t trying to do anything but [censored] me off.

    Now maybe if it was someone that was attractive, perhpas I would have played their little game... However, this was a good 40year age difference and I doubt you could consider it `foreplay.`

    I would rather like a riding partner out here...anyone want to make a trip?

    Hehehehe! 😄

    At least once in a weekend (not in the weekday early mornings for some reason) some guy will HAVE to pass me. I know it's because I'm a woman. Then he'll die in front of me, especially if we hit a hill, I'll reel him back in and pass him. Sometimes they try again and just fall apart.

    Shoot- I get passed every day by the same gal. She takes a break at the cemetary gates on the ride and I go by (always exchanging a 'mornin'😉 and then she passes me again on the descent...I just figure she's a damn good rider.

    As for the cat who was messing up your training-I'm going to borrow something here from the "How to look like a better cyclist" thread- next time you see him pass him and as you pass, take a sip out of your bottle and then bounce it off his head (as opposed to flinging it off to the side of the road)- ought to fix his ego a bit

    as for Japanese curse words- I am pretty sure the finger is known world wide- I have used it with great success in many situations
