  1. I've taken the bollocking & now appreciate that I wasn't following the
rules. Funny enough though I've just weighed in again and the stubborn
missing loss has suddenly disappeared making my total loss in January
14lbs - which I suppose is quite good considering I've been doing low-carb
    and not induction.

I know that losing a stone in a month seems too much too soon, but I can
normally drop it - after all the first 28lbs is normally accrued during
November & December during business entertainment & parties and it I can
usually drop it just by cutting out the beer and Pizzas.

Glad that my thread taught a few of you how to speak Mexican - and when I
    said "Lean Chilli
Concarne without kidney beans" that meant it did not have any kidney beans
in it at all for those of you who were reading too fast.

As this is a low-carb ng I hope I'm allowed to lurk & post with or without
    having correctly done induction?

Off to eat my bacon & eggs without sauces now (or can I have them in OWL).

Atkins is not the only low carb diet. If you're talking about *any*
type of low carb, you're welcome here.

    Thank you

  4. The one thing all LC plans have in common is an *initiation* stage,
generally 2 weeks, where carbs and types of foods eaten are restricted.

Wow, you stood up to us beating you down? Chewing you out for eating kidney
beans and rice? 🙂 And you still want to be here? Of course you're
welcome! That's just the sort of attitude you need to enjoy a supportive
newsgroup - ignore the comments that are off, and take in the advice that
    helps.

I didn't want to say anything earlier, but I thought your 7 lbs weight loss
was low for just starting LC and on induction (well, I think it was that low
because you weren't actually doing induction...) considering the amount of
weight you have to lose. Different people lose different amounts, but it is
typically relative to how much weight they need to lose. There is even a
chart in my Atkins book that shows how much you weight you can expect to
lose during induction depending on if you are male or female and how much
    extra weight you are carrying.

I lost 20 or 30 lbs (can't remember exactly) during my first 2 months.
After that, it slowed down to an average of 1.5 lbs/week (when I averaged
out how much I lost in a month).

Good luck on your weight loss journey!

You have serious issues. Why are you lying to us -- or is it yourself?
Reread your post from just two days ago where you said that "low carb
had stopped working" because you "only lost seven pounds in three
weeks." Now you say that you've lost 14 pounds and the other seven
pounds mysteriously"disappeared" in a day and a half! So how can we
    believe anything you post?

You also listed meals, and they were not low carb at all including
things like sugar/bread/pasta/potatoes/kidney beans. Now two days later you
    say
that you have been "doing low carb not induction." You have not been
doing low carb and you know it.

Maybe you should try posting on alt.support.ineedattention. This is an
extremely supportive group, but we are also busy and don't want to
waste our time with liars and exagerators. If it's elp youwant,
you'll get it -- but only by being honest. I would recommend that you
start over from scratch, be truthful about what you are/are not
eating, and post your actual weight loss/gain instead of making up [censored]
that you think we want to hear.

Gotta correct myself. You did say in your first post you did not eat the
kidney beans. Just sugar, pasta, bread and potatoes.

I guess it depends on the volume of those food the OP has ingested and he hasn't
posted the details of what he's eaten during those 2 weeks, just that he's on
25g carb per day. He's possibly didn't count the carbs in ketchup / brown sauce
/ mayonnaise / semi skimmed milk / bacon though.

You've never been to Texas, then. A friend of mine's wife is a High School
Spanish teacher from Spain. She gets frustrated all of the time by the
Tex-Mex the Hispanics speak in Texas. For example, the local word for
    "truck" is "trucko".

there is no such language as "mexican;" there are, however, mexican
    dialects of spanish.

what you are referring to above is known as "spanglish," the mangling of
spanish and english. it's not a true language any more than ebonics is,
    and it's certainly not "mexican."

  13. What's a "true language"? It seems to me that if a group of people agree
that a certain set of words mean certain things that constitutes a true
language. All languages started and evolved that way.

The usual definition is that if the two ways of speech
are mutually unintelligible, they are two different
languages; if they are mutually intelligible, they are
    different dialetics.

Texas and North Dakota English, dialects. US and UK
    English, dialects. And so on.

Mandarin and Cantonese, languages. Dutch and German,
    languages.

It's also true that "mutually unintelligible" as a
matter of averages not of one individual. One person
may only understand folks in their own neighborhood
and another may be good enough with language that they
can understand either Dutch or German just fine.
Mexican and Castilian are dialetics, both Spanish
    to most people.

    I didn't do the Atkins induction when I started low-carbing in 2001. I
never went into ketosis either, and still lost 9 lbs in the first 2 weeks.

you're conflating dialect with language. they're related, but they're
    not the same thing.

I first posted about my lack of loss on the 25th but hadn't weighed for
three days. Most bathroom scales go upto 19 stone. I was 21 and am now 20. I
use the scales at the gym. I hadn't been to the bloody gym for three days.
Where are the rules in this group that says one can only post whilst
standing on a set of scales with a Dr Atkins book in the other hand?

Some of you really amuse me - one of you will flame me about something and
the rest of you then set out to correct the flamer thus proving that I'm not
the one with that many misunderstandings.

    eg:-

Chillie Con Carne - is not made of Corn and of course it is served with rice
if you want rice - I however was not eating rice,
Kidney beans (which have have zero carbs if you don't eat them) I clearly
    said WITHOUT Kidney beans.
If I said I ate celery without Doughnuts I'm sure someone in here would
reply that doughnnuts at not for induction........
Mexican language is Spanish - yeah like American is Scottish
    7lbs is a lot
    7lbs is not a lot
I am a liar ....yeah of course I am. I am a lazy Fat selfish pig who would
rather carry on eating pies and drinking beer whilst taking magic diet pills
just like most of you in here.
I am a troll - yeah, okay fine, but am I a fat or slim troll?

It's an okay amount in 3 weeks, I think was the point. Actually, though,
for someone your size if you had really being doing induction you would
likely have lost that in the first week. But since you weren't really doing
induction, you might have gotten some real fat loss, which is a good thing,
    really.

Next time try to use fewer words in your posts....be more specific and to
    the point. 🙂

Oh, and lighten up....this is a usenet group, not a professional weight loss
service where we charge you $1000 and guarantee you'll lose 50 lbs in 30
    days.
