We stayed at Talmont Saint-Hilaire, just outside Les Sables d'Olonne, for
some weeks a few years ago, a most lovely place and a great area for
cycling. La Rochelle harbour front has some great little cafes ... 😉

Enjoy! I got a bit of cycling in -- a ride up to Noirmoutier across Le Gois
and back via the bridge. 154km at an average of 30kmh; it's _very_ flat!
It'll be interesting to see the Tour riders riding the same roads in two
weeks' time.

with luck I'll be able to enjoy it without getting up in the middle of
the night, itv2 now up and running on Freeview ;-)
The Tour also goes through St Etienne and Le Puy en Velay so I imagine
they will getting all geared up for it.

Not any more. I /still/ haven't received my route sheet, but more
siginifcantly I had corrective laser eye surgery on Tuesday and the general
opion of the quacks was that spending a weekend outside with very little
sleep, trying to keep hands clean enough to administer eyedrops every couple
of hours was emphatically /not/ terribly sensible...

So I shall instead catch some rays while fitting my mountain bike with new
oily bits.
