  1. We have been on Atkin's for over a year. In November we went to England so
decided to just eat anything. Steak and Ale, Fish and Chips. Belgium Choclates,
    Cookies, Pasteries.
We come home back to normal life and think we will start again Jan. 4 when we
    go back to work.
We found out by all our cheating not only did we gain weight, we feel crappy,
don't drink enough water, we are tired all the time.
We are going to finish the Christmas stuff choclates, breads, and the other non
Atkin's stuff. Then we will remember Jan 4 when we start induction how yucky
    carbs made us feel.
    Happy New Year to all.

I was visiting my mother and we went out to eat in a little diner in Hugo,
Oklahoma. There was just no way to avoid carbs, so I went ahead and ate the
chicken friend steak, the fried okra, green beans and salad (if you call
nothing but iceberg lettuce a salad). That evening, I felt like [censored]!
People think that forgetting the controlled carb way of eating and going
crazy will not affect them in any way, but your body knows! You just don't
get the glow of satisfaction of eating carbs that you think you "should"
    get.

  3. I bought a bottle of eggnog at the store when I got my Christmas fixins. I
decided to have a taste of it while I put away my groceries. Damn, that was
good! Drank the whole bottle before I got to the crisper with my salad
stuff. Decided that after 13 months and 40 lbs., I would give myself a day
off low-carb. I got a half gallon of Blue Bell coffee icecream (my very
favorite), baked a humongous sweet potato, which I devoured with butter,
whole berry cranberry sauce, and cornish game hen, topped off with pumpkin
cheese cake. About half low carb, about half not. But I still got my
heartburn back, and gas and sluggish feeling. I'm back on the program
today, but had to share my experience. I enjoyed the tastes, but not the
    repercusions!

I don't get it? I've been doing LC for over 6 years and have never felt
hungry or wanting for anything. I've traveled, vacationed, and splurged a
bit. Why do you feel that being someplace different or a special occasion is
a good reason to go back to what made you miserable?

  5. The striking thing about your post is, I could have eaten every last
thing on that list without going off LC. Not all at once perhaps, but
    let's take a look:

Egg Nog - Hood makes a LC version
Ice Cream - Multiple LC versions to choose from
Sweet Potato - About 24 g for a whole one, still not too bad
Cranberry Sauce - About 8g in a cup when you make it with Splenda
    Cornish Hen
Pumpkin Cheescake - Made with Splenda and crushed nuts for a crust,
pumpkin added in is still LC

Dumb question, but... if you found out you felt crappy after eating all
that high carb stuff why do you feel some sort of obligation to finish
off all the Christmas stuff you mentioned???

No, it's not a dumb question. She should have thought of it herself.

  8. Of course you are right, I just wanted a little break from being limited to
extreme LC. I didn't put on an ounce and my head didn't go crazy. I'm back
on LC now so no harm was done.

I agree - I ate 6 pieces of Godiva candy (3 on Xmas Eve, 3 on Xmas). I gave the
rest away, as I didn't want it around the house. I didn't do too badly over the
2 day holiday, but I did overdo the carbs and still feel a little crummy.

  10. Hi guys! its been months since I've been here, but I'm still doing well,
holding on to me 50 lb loss.

I had my first "day off" Atkins Christmas Eve. It would have been too hard
to stay hard core-low carb during the family 7 seafood feast. I would have
done the evening much different, and cut out many of the un-needed carbs-
but I wasn't the cook, and wasn't allowed in the all guy kitchen. I stressed
over this event for days, then decided it was easiest to just enjoy and come
December 26, get back to the real menu. How do people live without
    vegetables in their frig!

gosh how do you gauge breading on fish! I had my 1 inch tasting of
everything that was carby and left room for Dad's cheesecake that I wish
was sugarless- it was great with 5 pks of creamcheese and 1 c of sugar- that
    I did indulge in.

Have you found that the items you wish you could eat really aren't that good
anymore. I wanted fruitcake so bad, and as it sat on my tongue, I wished I
had taken an even smaller piece. A cocktail with real gingerale was to gag
for. Luckily I found my aunt who also wanted to sample the 15 varieties of
    pastries, and we shared bites.

My best advice- try it, a bite will do, and don't take any home

back on the wagon today-boy does that salad taste good!
