  1. Today I found a rave near my local trails. Sunday afternoon, pissing down
with rain and several thousand pilled-up Germans dancing near a lake to
    techno. Weird.

Well, you *did* say you had a lot of G&Ts last night.

Hmm. No partying Europeans, but I came across a fearless doe. At least
I think it was a doe... No antlers, anyhow.

I had taken the gravel trail from Castlewood out to Glencoe and was on
my way back when I rounded a curve and saw a deer standing in the trail.
I unclipped, braked and coasted to a stop no more than three feet from
her. She stepped off the trail, tore a mouthful of sycamore leaves and
turned around to watch me as she chewed. I scootered closer, then a
little closer still, and held out my hand palm up, making those
ridiculous kissy noises. She regarded my glove with interest,
stretching her neck to sniff at it. She was close enough that I could
smell the dust in her fur, see the ticks in her ears. I started to lean
in slowly, seeing if she might tolerate a touch, but when I got within
six inches, she sidestepped casually and ambled up the embankment,
pausing here and there to rip off more bunches of leaves. It's amazing
how close she let me get. Hope somebody gives her the "stranger danger"
    speech before hunting season.

I had a fawn come up to me like that a few weeks ago

I came across one of those a few years ago - same assumption on my part,
no horns, no...well whatever. Different sort of fearless, though. I was
getting the bike out of the pickup, and hear this snorting behind me. Here
was this deer about 15 feet away, still standing there and snorting at me.
We just sort of stared at each other awhile, and finally I said, "well,
    what're you gonna do?"

    She left, I rode.

I came across a fearless yogi meditating in the middle of Sisar Road
about 6 miles up the climb above Ojai. He never even noticed me.

I've come across freakier things but they were so shocking that I've
blocked them from my memory. Oh, except for the time up on the Backbone
Trail off of Latigo when this hiker did a complete strip for me at the
trailhead while I was waiting for my girlfriend to catch up. The
hiker's boyfriend just stood their encouraging her. Must have been the
empty 6 pack of wine coolers on the ground.

So, are your legs still aching, and how long did it take for you to come
    down?

    Shaun aRe - weird indeed...

It was 22 Euro to get in. Tragically, I'd left my wallet at home...

Sounds good, but there are plenty of hikers I'd rather not see naked!

I think the freakiest thing I've come across (though I didn't really see
it) occurred while climbing the fireroad out by my house. As I approached
a hiker with a medium-sized dog, he crouched down and held the dog close
to him. I didn't notice much other than that he looked like an old hippie
wearing a t-shirt and running shoes. My riding bud informed me later, that
was ALL that guy was wearing!

That would be kind of fun. Much better than the kind of stuff we find around
    here lately.

That's more interesting than the freakiest thing
    that I found.

    A dead guy.

I had forgotten about that story. Maybe not as odd as I initially thought
    (although still undesirable IMO).

Ditto. Mine was a dead woman who'd jumped in the Neckar. I sort of
block that whole thing out. The police say it's a common place for them
to wash up. After that I payed much less attention to the river.
