Odd power discerpancy - pls help

  1. I have two power files from a rider, both performed on the same PT300 indoor trainer but 8 weeks apart (testing) They are identical 20 min TT efforts. The figures have me confused;

    TT1
    211AP
    11.39km
    34.3kmh
    86 Cad

    TT2
    208AP
    13.86km
    41kmh
    102 Cad

    Can anyone explain why the power for the second TT is lower but the distance travelled 2.4km farther ? The only significant difference lies in the cadence.

  2. Maybe he turned his cooling fan off on the second one. You know, to cut down the headwind? 😉

    Actually, it appears that the internal resistance of the stationary bike was on a different setting for the second run.

    But it's a PT equipped indoor bike - the PT simply measures the power at the hub therefore more resistance = more power ?

    Power is torque * rounds/sec.

    Obviously in the second test the resistance was lower, rpm was higher and thus also mileage was higher, but the torque * rounds/sec was constant.

    So in terms of work done - the rider actually did less in the 2nd TT than the first - as indicated by the Pave ?

    Work done = Pave * effort_duration

    So wether both TTs were exactly the same duration, then the lower Pave results also less work done.
