Hey people. Just bought a new OCR1 last week. 2 rides later the handlebars had come loose in the headstem ...(Or whatever you call it) Should I just tighten it myself, or take it to where i got it and get them to fix it?? Is it just a matter of not being tightened enough in the first place, or will it keep coming loose?
Apart from that the bike is great. Managed to get to 64.7km down a bit of a hill. I live near Mt. Dandenong, so I think I will be heading up there soon! I have really only had a MTB, so this feels light as. Just taking a bit getting used to the gears and clipless.

Get out your tools and crank it tight... the bike store has to expect you to adjust the bike to your preferences so there should be no problem you taking to it with an allen key..
Last pics I saw of the new OCR1 it was decked out in Campy gear... whattt theeeee!!??? 😉
Both Ess and I have OCR1's.. and we have both replaced the stem....

Nice bike - you can adjust all those things yourself if you have an allen key. How tight should you go? Tight enough so that it will only move if hit quite hard, but not in normal use.
Make sure you tighten the handlebars and the stem before riding 64.7km/h down hills!!! :O
I was concerned about tightening it too much, but richo's info will help. God, imagine if it had come loose down the hill. That would have been interesting.
GPlama, was it the australian version that had the campy on it? Mine is just the 105, but i noticed other countries have varying specs.

I notice almost all Giants at the OCR level have Campy on them in Europe. There are ones with Shimano but seem to never have the full the level components on them. The OCR1´s with Shimano are a mixture of Tiagra and 105.
I changed the stem on my OCR1 also. It was that split stem. Bloody dangerous thing when descending in France. Speaking of stems, i have a question about my current one. I think i recently tightened it too much coz now the top screw that keeps that little plate around the handlebars in place just spins round and round loosely. Might this mean a whole new stem? I tried using the bottom screw on at the top but this had the same result. Unfortunately my bike is in another town at the moment and i wont get to it till next week.

What it means is that you have stripped the thread. Making it at least as dangeous as a split stem. You have 3 choices 1) New stem 2) dtill and tap the thread for the next size up bolt. (preferably a sizt that is also elsewhere on the bike. Making sure their is enough metal around the hole to be ok (likely) 3) helicoil.. That is drill the hole.. insert a helicoil essentially a thread in stainless steel that is the same as the original thread except stronger. In engineering terms this is the best solution being if properly done better than new. It is essentially light engineering.. you need to know how and have the right tools. It is however not hard
