What is the end purpose of the bike? Buy what suits. Having said that, I would only suggest buying a Giant to someone who could neither afford nor appreciate a Felt. 🙄

the thing is im a commuter so neither description really fits! I might try to ccyle forn london to manchester one day, but thats more of a dream than a plan

also, the choice i have is an SCR 1 or TCR t mobile. the CSR does not have a composite rear triangle.

i was thinking about it last night and i think im gonna go for the t mobile. i figure that at 32 I should be able to handle a TCR for at least 5-10 years then when the back starts to go I can get a more comfy ride!

otherwise, I can see myself in 10 yrs time wishing I had at least had some years on a really fast bike.

Hi I ride a OCR comp, and have just built a "race" (cos i dont race) bike around a Cervelo One frame.

The cervelo has a more agressive geometry, shorter headtube, and shorter wheelbase, steeper seatube angle and was designed to be a triathalon, time trial bike. OCRs are described as the comfort road bike on the Giant website.

The feel between the two are very different. The OCR is definitely more comfortable in the sense of allowing a more upright riding position. At first I didnt think there was much difference, but after doing a back to back comparison, the difference was more than obvious.

My suggestion is to visit a bike shop that would allow you a 5-10 min test ride of both, test ride a flat bar road bike as well. And you will get an idea of the differences between the 3. BTW, you can mitigate the difference in the headtube length to a certain extent, by retaining a longer steerer tube.

the problem is that as the TCR is an end of line model, the bike shop offering it has to buy them in one by one. they said that they doint want to buy one in for me to then say i dont want it. 😠

i will try to convince them to go for it, but they seemed pretty reluctant in case they couldnt shift the TCR if i didnt take it..

the dilemma is between two Giant bikes.

common sense tells me to go for the slightly cheaper SCR which is likely a better option for commuting in London, but the bargain hunter bling side of me makes me want the TCR!!!! But the more i read on this forum the more i think the TCR is overkill for fast commuting..

Also Id want to swap the tyres on the SCR for some GP4000 which is likely to bring the price in line with the TCR anyway....
