  1. Since I was little, I have been in the habit of giving
myself a warm water enema, when constipation is coming on. I
simply lay down on a bench with a towel and place the nozzle
of a hanging bag enema, each dose is about 12 ounces of warm
water. I let it sit in me for a very short while, then I get
up and sit on the stool. Soon, my impacted fecal matter
    begins to flow out.

Particularly around the Holidays (big meals) I notice that
friends and relatives suffer particularly from constipation.
They bloat up, strain at the stool, take stringent
laxatives, complain of hemmorhoids flaring up, etc. I never
mention that I easily remedy myself with a simple warm water
enema. But it always seems so strange to me that most
everyone does not make use of this simple remedy.

I guess my question is: am I doing something wrong or that
    dangerous or harmful?

Yes. You may already be dependent on enemas. The enemas can
rupture your colon. And cause electrolyte disturbances.

Make sure you get plenty of liquids going into the right end
of your digestive tract and plenty of fiber.

I don't think so. Your description reads like that of a very
sensible regimen. Enemas have fallen from favor in general,
but a still a valid alternative to laxitives. So long as one
exercises there is little danger of perforation or
    dependence.

  4. Is it ok to stick a tube down one's throat, inject a load of
water into the stomach and then throw up? Seems to deal with
the excessive holiday pigging session AND stops all those
horrid fats and sugars getting into the bloodstream.

    Probably not.

And if an analogy is intended it doesn't hold. Vomiting
isn't what esophagus was designed to do, while evacuation is
the primary function of the lower bowel. I didn't read
anything that suggested excess food intake, or dependence on
    artificial means to achieve regularity.

Some people experience occasional constipation, and an enema
done the way the original poster describes is not a bad way
to treat it. Of course when done with excessive frequency or
with lack of care they can be dangerous ... what can't?

    Stomach acid in the mouth?

Perhaps a better analogy would be with gargling.

  7. I can't see that the ph of vomit, 10 mins after a 2000 kcal
meal is going to be much different to that of the meal. Take
into account the 2 pints of water drunk to help the chucking
process. Is it really so bad for the oesophagus and the
mouth? It's more practical than an enema too.

Allowing the GI tract to operate normally, without
enemas or vomiting, is probably the most prudent and
    wise course of all.
