Obree and the Hour

One can only wish him well. At least he has a different
perspective than when he was racing in the 1990s. As he
says, if he doesn't break the record now, he won't feel he
has to slit his wrists for failing. If anyone hasn't yet
read his book, it's highly recommended, particularly in
light of what has happened to Pantani and Jimenez..

Update - April 4 is now set as a "test" session. (I suspect
if the test goes well he'll find a slot to attempt the
record during the World Cup 9-11 April)

He won a hilly TT in northern England this weekend,
apparently riding 57x12 fixed.

It's wonderful to see him back and winning after all he's
been through. It would be great to see him come within that
5% if not actually beat Boardman's record. Has Boardman been
quoted anywhere on what he thinks of Obree's chances?

Hats off to these amazing athletes. I just started reading a
book about Moser's hour record attempts, so this posting hit
a note with
me.Obree is amazing, and to be able to push out that amount
of power for that amount of time! The guy's got heart!
Here's what I'd really like to see: Ullrich and Armstrong
giving the record a shot. Eddy was amazing, Boardman was
amazing, now let's see what these guys can do! The tough
thing, I guess, is taking the time out of their racing
seasons to train and then attack this record. Any chances
of this happening?
