  1. Okay, this one is for Lesanne

    HAPPY NEW YEAR

Again, no official weight this week since the meeting was cancelled. And I guess all that exercise
last week just piled on MUSCLE (G) rather then taking any fat off my "fat free" body!!!!

I will post a guess-weight and might as well face the music this week unofficially rather than new
week with a real higher weight.

Put me down as UP one pound.

    That would be 158.4

    And Happy New Year Everyone

    Fred

  2. Thank you for that Fred, you made my year 🙂🙂

My average this week is holding well at 157.5 so far.....

  5. Good job on the muscle gain Fred. <G>

You're still nicely below both your WW goal and your personal "cushion" goal. Anyway, one week's
unofficial WI doesn't mean much in the scheme of the things, other than to show you're maintaining
awareness. Hey, maybe that's what Maintenance is really about!

  10. I am so happy (not) to oblige. But Congrats on holding well at 157.7.

Well, another day of skiing (new years day) under the belt or maybe over the belt. Cold - in the low
20's and cloudy but excellent snow. But it was in the teens on New Year's eve.

Today I'm dilly-dallying around and it is incredibly sunny and all around me is snow covered.

Good luck this week. Oh, today is your reporting day, right (fri)

  11. Ah, if only I were that confident. And, if only there were some really easy way to really determine

    way to know.

  13. As I wrote to Brenda, I wish there were a way to determine what's what with gains. I mean, 150 miles
of biking, about 6,000 feet and 26 miles of skiing, even with too much food (grin or sigh) should
not be a gain??? Should it??

But I am below so yup, no paying and more money for skis! (g)

I am aware but just met someone who lost about 50 pounds on WW and then regained much of it. You
would think that even with awareness this would not happen but it does and that remains scary.

I can easily, too easily, see me falling into the older patterns since I still tend to be a grazer
or nosher and can binge up a storm.

  16. Well, if that scale jumps up or down a full few pounds the very next morning, I assume it's pretty
safe to say THAT is water. <g> Muscle and fat though - much harder to figure.

I can also see where regaining can be very easy, I'm sure most of us here have been that route
before. Those pounds sneak up ever so slowly, we figure we will catch it in time ... what's 1 pound,
or 5, or 10 ... and before we know it ....... well, you know. I am very aware and trying hard to
practice awareness, but even so sometimes life just gets the best of me. I threw in the towel
somewhat this week, figured I would just roll with things until the kiddies were back into school
and life resumed something resembling normalcy. Yesterday was a good day, although much higher in
sodium than I'd like .. today was a great day. Sunday is *toss all the [censored] in the garbage* day ...
fudge, toffee, cookies - whatever is left is going out for the trash pickup. I can't handle it
anymore and have realized the only way I CAN deal with it is to GET IT OUT. And I will.

My weight is up a smidge, nothing to get overly excited about (as usual) - but again, that awareness
thing HAS sunk in and I know that if I don't do something immediately, it ain't gonna happen. I am
nowhere close to my danger zone and clothing fits as usual, and gain could also very well be due to
monthly timing ... doesn't much matter to me. What does matter to me is that I know I've been off
course from where I want to be, and it is definitely time to once again take control. No time to
weigh in today or yesterday, so my *official* results will be first thing in the morning (or second,
depending on how the morning goes). <g>

But you are right - that possibility of putting it all back on is just dang scary!

  18. this brings up an interesting point Fred. I found that I am a grazer and
while I do not binge, thank G*D, I tried to eat three and two snacks, I was
miserable, so I went back to the original pattern just cut points per graze.
Did you change your pattern to lose or did you stay in the same eating
pattern. I ask because I figured out early that I would probably lose much
faster if I changed the pattern but I also realized somewhere early as well
that I not only "could" fall back but "would" fall back into this pattern so
I then figured losing slower, not being hungry and having one less thing to
fight would work best for me... Thoughts..Fred? anybody else, Lee musing

I've been thinking about this for a while. Water isn't really possible to measure in the short term.
I guess you just have to average over time. But body fat CAN be measured, or at least you can
measure differences. There are three ways to do it (domestically) skinfold calipers electrical
impedance (omron/tanita) mirror It's probably best to use all three to be anywhere near accurate. It
also needs to be done over time. The electrical impedance is supposed to be very inaccurate but
again graphed over time it should be OK. Skinfold calipers are the best (domestically) but they are
very difficult to use properly as I'm finding out.

Reverting to old eating patterns is a real problem for me too. Apparently most people don't lose
much weight, and very few keep it off for any length of time. So reverting isn't failure - it's the
norm! Thats not to say that it's acceptable. I guess we all have to try to find a way to keep up the
good eating, but I can see it's not easy. I'm depending on you and Lesanne and some others for
    inspiration 🙂
