That's the problem though -- for an athlete of Lance's stature, anything short of
an elite performance is probably below expectations.

to hit 16 low for 5k to break 2:40. He's capable of that, but he needs to train to

An aerobic engine has power, not efficiency. I know you may not have meant
"efficiency" in a completely literal sense, but in this context the difference
is important enough to be worth addressing. Efficiency in running is highly specific,
mostly a neuromuscular/gait efficiency issue (so no transfer from cycling)
