In the beginning I never killfiled anyone. Now I'm considering using Agent
and getting into some more sophisticated filtering. I need to be able to
kill threads. The Outhouse Express filter rules are worthless.

You obviously think yourself smart, but you're just as dumb as the
    proverbial stump, imo.

My guess would be that he has not run and hid like a piece of [censored]
loser, but has, instead, grabbed himself a Coke or a cup of coffee and
is sitting at his monitor watching people spew insults at each other
as a result of one or two of his posts.

I mean, why should he work if people like you, JMW, and, yeah, your
truly does his job for him. You, Johnny, are just as much a troll and
a POS loser as anyone else. Now when will you begin this meaningful
    debate you mention above?

    Uh huh.

Never tried it, but nfilter (http://www.nfilter.org/) is supposed to be good.

    Lets you filter on headers.

    Quoted message said:

Was that a typo? I mean, could he really have benched
35 kg and still called you lah-ha-ha-HOOZER!!!

    But didn't.

But didn't what? Didn't beat you by 352+ pounds or didn't bench 35 kg?
Yeah, he didn't bench 35. He benched almost 400 kg. I was replying to
your question of what you could possibly do to improve over your
bronze medal placing. My answer to your question is:

    YOU CAN'T.

Unless Burnell blows a pec, delt, or tricep or has some other
accident, well, you're stuck in third. At the very best. And I bet
Ruppert beats you next go 'round, yeah, fair and square.

    Quoted message said:

And Jason was there but you weren't.

And? That wasn't one of your questions.

    Quoted message said:

Jason would also say with a straight face

Nah. Not quite straight. He'd be smiling and say, something like,
    "Yeah, THREE-HUNDRED AND FIFTY-PLUS!!! I dusted him."

    Quoted message said:

that he and I were there and our placing's were
    all fair and square.

    Quoted message said:

I like your questions, John. Got any others?

    What have you done

Gotten your panties in a bunch, apparently.

    Quoted message said:

and where can I see the results?

    Right here, pal.

    Quoted message said:

The fact of the mater remains that you are a worthless
nobody with nothing to claim except that you are a loser
    troll.

Say, where do you keep your bronze medal?

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/curt_james/MFW/hewillALWAYSbeatyou.jpg

Of course it was fair and square. He will ALWAYS beat you fair and
    square, Johnny.

I wonder how you define "loser" - is it simply someone you don't agree with?
I see Curt as I guy who has his life together - a career that he obviously
enjoys, respected in his profession - enjoying life and the opposite of a
loser the way I understand that word. Squats and DL are not everything in
life. You sound like the centre beating his chest - "ha ha I can jump 3 feet
higher than you can" - but the point man is probably more valuable than the
centre. I like the guy who doesn't beat his chest but is quietly confident
and comfortable with himself. You sound like a kind of windbag braggart who
    needs constant validation.

Those are very kind words. Thank you, David.

To be fair to John. He is an accomplished lifter, but, yeah, he's
    missing what's happening here.

Hey, John, you got one of those t-shirts, what's it say? Something
like, *I'm Not Very Bright, But I Can Lift Really Heavy Things*.

    D'OH!

Okay, seriously, he sees me (and others) as the enemy when the
    situation actually consists of...

    a) a bunch of guys and a few girls who enjoy fitness as a topic and
    b) a jerk who posts under multiple nicknames for the sole purpose,
apparently, of just stirring the pot.

This thread and the other junk threads indicate a need for all of us
to reconsider how we interact with each other and who the really enemy
    is...

    JOHN HANSON, OF COURSE!!! <g>

Sure he is an accomplished lifter. Downside is he is 'high maintenance'.
There was no reason for him to [censored] on Om a week ago - or you or me. He runs
around calling others losers with no provocation whatever. It's childish.
Someone replies to Davidson and then gets all this abuse. There are people
like that in every walk of life. We had a very good salesman in our
company - came 3rd consistently in overall performance (bronze) - but all he
could do was blow his own horn and swagger and push people around until we
all got sick of him and gave him the sack. That is what I mean by 'high
maintenance' - they have an exaggerated view of their self worth.

    Well said, David.

And I hope you'll forgive that I've snipped out the personalities
included above and approached this from an overall perspective.

Participation is as important in the classroom as it is in life after
school, of course. By way of encouraging kind behavior in my classroom
or to make the name-callers think a little bit (see a lot of name
calling in grade school, unfortunately), I've often presented that
    scenario you've just described, David.

I ask the students, given the choice between a) a person who was
absolutely PERFECT at their jobs but was a complete and total jerk, no
fun to be around, all about the drama and back-stabbing and b) a
person who was adequate at their job, but a lot of fun to be around,
team-oriented, helpful, kind, motivated... who would they choose to
    work with?

Not saying that it changes behavior, but it might make someone
consider what's really important. Certainly, I'll go with the
arrogant, insufferable brain surgeon, but there are more grocery
baggers on this planet than there are brain surgeons.

Wait... what's the moral to my story? That if you're nice, you'll
become a grocery bagger (an honorable profession, of course) and that
if you're a jerk then you'll be a brain surgeon? NO!

Let me rephrase and/or rework that a bit:

How many spots are available at your local /brain surgery académie/?
Given two individuals of equal capability but only one position
available, who would you choose to help on their road to success? I'd
help the nice person and turn my back on the jerk given that choice.

Anyone who's still reading, help yourself to an energy bar and a tuna
shake at the MFW snack bar. And while you're enjoying that treat,
think of your own moral for the story.

Since you assumed the rule of arbiter for the IOM award, maybe you
could be arbiter of the MFW Official Killfile List. We could vote on
IP address entries to the list (no vetoes, of course), and with
sufficient votes, the new additions to the killfile list could be
