I had a splendid ride, finally rode part of the Spen Valley Greenway which I think is NCN 66. Paved
for miles, lots of sculpture and seating. Very little broken glass or other debris. Saw a few other
cyclists, lots of walkers a horse. I have not used it before and wasn't really sure where I was. I
joined near to Cleckheaton and headed east, turning around when the tarmac ended where the path ran
alongside the Calder & Hebble Navigation. I'll investigate further in a week or too.

All in all a very pleasant ride for two hours or so

Wasn't it great? I put in 30 miles in the Norfolk lanes - wee bit foggy at first, but when the sun
broke through it was fantastic. Stopped at one point to take on water and carbs; on NCN 13 between
Bradenham and Saham Toney; the only sounds were the trees dripping, one or two birds chatting to
each other, and my breathing (er, ok - my "puffing"😉.

Given that we are three weeks from the winter solstice, days don't come much better than that - glad
I had some free time to take advantage.

OTOH I met up with the guys for a training ride but had to pack after about 8 miles as I didnt
feel at all right. I then saw many large groups of cyclists as I grovelled home at about 6 miles
an hour 🙁

Woke up to rain and grey cloud. I expected rain all day. It ended as a pleasant surprise.

Popped down the shop for some croissants on the Brommie then the sun came out. It was gorgeous,
clear blue skies and not too chilly.

Took five youngsters out on the local roads for their cycle training then ran through the Highway
Code test which they have next week.

The sun led to itchy feet so hooked up the Vitelli to the Trice and trundled the 10 miles to collect
saxophone that was being repaired. Strapped it on and rode the hilly route home just beating the
return of the rain.

Stripped and oiled the Brommie's brake cables in the hall.

Spot on wasn't it. Both the kids were out, so Mrs. Hall and I tandemed over to Broadstone Warren
Scout Camp to discuss an orienteering competition I'm running next weekend. Used the Worth Way and
Forest Way (both disused railway line, now NCN 21). Amazed by the [censored] cycle lane in East Grinstead
- red tarmac round the outside edge of a roundabout, subdivided into two lanes. Really, really
unsafe. Stopped off in Forest Row on the way back for a coffee (cafe next to Future Cycles) but
walked out after _half_an_hour_ wait. It can't be that tricky to make a cappucino can it? Back by
two, bite of lunch then gardening duties while listening to the Classic Serial. Mrs. Hall, of
course, took to her scratcher for the afternoon.

You could have come to Llanwrtyd Wells - we had some lovely rain over here, the mud in the forestry
was as squidgy as I could have hoped for.

Up late, so only got going 14:00. 24mi / 2hr loop out east of Norwich (country back lanes). Very
foggy, but no rain, just standing water. Norwich - the Plumsteads - Blofield Heath - Ranworth -
Woodbastwick - Crostwick - Spixworth - Old Catton - home.

Highlight 1: stopped for a mo at Ranworth to look out over the Broad. Heavy fog meant it looked
staring into the Great Beyond - white everywhere. Beautifully quiet & peaceful.

Highlight 2: checked the odo when I got home - just covered my 3000th mile since I started cycling
again 18 mths ago. Rah!

I too had a nice 100k ride. Not raining at all, but the wet and muddy roads made a right mess of the
bike. Out with the hose and soapy sponge when I returned. Nice ride though, and I got the clothing
right for a change!

south of my house. It goes diagonally though so I guess one could say we are both right !!
