I have 4 recumbents, one is a BikeE FX. I know why BikeE is no longer around, their bikes were not
fun to ride. Recumbents are all about the fun of riding, a pusher like a BikeE just doesn't fit in.

I should know. I've been commuting 25 miles/day on a 1998 AT for 5 years. This will all change in
February when Bill Cook sends me my tricked out Dakota S. 8->

I expect to fly on that bike after a zillion miles on the BikeE snowplow. I'm gonna burn me up
some roadies.

Still, BikeEs are great for "around town" riding.

Hi Bikers, My first bent was a BikeE CT. I got 2600 miles of fun on it. Though I like my Bacchetta
Corsa a lot more, I could not have begun benting with a Corsa as easily. There are places I can ride
a BikeE that I cannot ride my Corsa, as on loose surfaces. BikeE type bikes, as EZ1, still have a
place. I see kids riding BikeEs. BikeEs can be easily adjusted to fit kids by telescoping in
handlebar riser and sliding seat forward, and hence down, to fit a small person. I'll bet that many
on this group got into bents via BikeE. Al Kubeluis

My first recumbent was Bob Bryant's test BikeE FX and I thought it was the most amazing and
comfortable bike Id ever owned. Seven much more sophisticated recumbents later, I still remember it
as a very rideable bike on just about every surface.

The Ct was my first, It got me hooked into recumbents after 16 years of road bikes. I've owned 4
other bents since that first bikeE, but have yet to find a more people friendly bike. A week
wouldn't go by where I wouldn't be approached by strangers inquiring about the BikeE. Many times
those strangers would get their first recumbent ride on that bike, only one ever failed to ride it
in a minute or two. My current ride is a Bacchetta Giro, a wonderful and easy bike to ride, but most
people will give me a wide birth and will actually ask how I can ride such a contraption, (I do have
the seat very laid back). To them it doesn't look comfortable or friendly. The perception was
totally different on the BikeE. The truth is the Giro is the more comfortable, faster, better, bike.
Perception is everything ya know. I sold my BikeE a couple years back and miss it from time to time.
IMO it really is a shame the company couldn't stay in business. If they had spent their time at
bicycle events promoting the bike instead of power lunches it might still be around. Many got their
start on these extruded aluminum beasts. I'd love to see them come back, but I probably wouldn't buy
one. I've moved on Denny in Sayre, Pa "Bent but not broken"

I too was a BikeE first timer. However, I still have mine. It's a 99' CT with, faring, fenders,
lighting, custom rear rack and underseat panniers. I've thought about selling it but....

I own a bunch of bents. Amoung them are three BikeE RX's. People were almost giving them away
this past year, considering the build quality. They are a fun bike to work on, and to ride in
off road areas. You can throw them up on your trunk rack easy. They also fit in a regular bike
box. They have been one of the few bent products you can ride anywhere right out of the box.
If I have someone that wants to try a bent I can put them on one of the Rx's and off they go.
There are times that I just want to take a ride on a gravel road or single track. The balance
of the BikeE RX makes them perfect for this kind of thing. I've always loved the bike for
these reasons.
