didn't see anything - bit further south than you though, and the moon was
very bright last night.

I had, from about 6.55 to 7.30 and then from about 9.50 to about 10.20, I
wasn't looking at the time. I was enroute to Scarborough for an astronomy
meeting and saw it from the car during the early evening. Then on the way
back to Hull, saw it again. Had to keep pulling over to watch it!

Damn good display, the best pictures I found were at
http://www.spaceweather.com/aurora/gallery_01jan05_page4.htm if anyone wants
to see.

Over the winter of 93/4 I was working in northern Russia and saw some
amazing shows on a few nights. It is a beautiful phenomenon.

In 1996 I was working in Norway and saw my first (and only) Northern
Lights. Apparently it wasn't a particularly good show but it was
still beautiful.

And only found out about the display when 2 people arrived late and
told us
