  1. Is anybody aware of any published work on walking in the northern
isles? I rather suspect its not a large enough subject for a
dedicated title? Taits book has a section.

seems most books are long wait or out of print, perhaps not
surprising, I don't suppose you *really* need a walking book for
    there.

Sorry, I didn't check through the site. Now you know the books you are
looking for maybe you could do a search with Google and see if there are
any for sale in the old bookshop sites.

Yes, secondhand seems like the best bet.

Or try http://www.bookfinder.com which searches most of the other
    major secondhand book databases.

You'll find a list of secondhand book dealers on my web site. ("Other
Dealers"😉. They're all mountaineering book specialists but many of
them sell walking guide books. Good luck.

The SMC Islands guide has a few pages - not a lot, but enough to work
out some ideas when combined with a map.
