What does "palmares" mean, and what language does it come from?
Before you flame me too bad, I did Google(TM) for it (try 124,000 hits, all of them about golf
courses) and also tried translating it in BabelFish from Spanish and Italian.

It's from the latin word "palmaris" ("who deserves the palm"😉 and was in 1868 introduced in the
