What the hell... with the cyclysm [censored] OLN is supposed to be bringing
in more viewers. Now only 1 month of decent cycling coverage? Remind
me why I paid OLN for their broadcast the other 11 months of the year?
You wonder what'll happen to even TDF once Lance is gone.

At least they'll have skiing from Flachau and Chamonix and [censored], which
is more exciting than the vuelta, no?

It looks like there will be the Lance interview next week, the last Lance
Chronicles, and the USPRO race from New York as the ONLY cycling coverage
on OLN for the entire month of August. The Thursday night cycling shows
that were on before the TdF are not listed on the schedule on their web site.

If all we're going to get of the Vuelta is a 1 hour recap show, it's not
going to be worth watching. Shades of ESPN and the TdF!

There's a reason I don't have cable or satellite. 3 months out of the
year I follow the big race in France. The rest of the time there's
bugger worth watching, except maybe the Giro, though I thought this
years was a bit watered down.

Well even the big 3 sports don't have a channel dedicated only for
them.

Oh come on be for real.
The channel stands for outdoors as in fishing, fishing and fishing. Pretty
versatile wouldn't you say?
What we need is a pure bicycling channel. Perhaps Speed channel might have a
legitimate reason to carry bike races if it lightened up on those nascar
races.

Of the three, La Vuelta is the one that I'm least likely to watch, but
this still blows.

I usually skip the Giro and watch the Tour and Vuelta, just how things
have worked out, not that I dislike the Giro any. OLN seems to have
fallen into the trap of, 'If you can't make a big deal out of it, it
isn't worth doing', but to be fair people are discovering bull riding as
a fairly interesting sport. If it's on the tube at the pub, perish the
thought some yo-yo will be able to get the ballgame on. People stare
that the stuff with their mouths hanging open then animatedly discuss
what a ragdoll the rider was, that you could never get them on a thing
like that, the guys hat stayed on, etc.

Hey, hockey is big three in my country. There's an entire cable station
dedicated to just the Toronto Maple Leafs [that's the correct spelling],
the New York Yankees of Canadian hockey teams, except without the
championships.

I assume OLN isn't stupid, and that the bull riding gets coverage
because people watch. Maybe over on rec.sports.bullriding they complain
about July, when coverage of their sport goes all to hell so OLN can
show 180 lycra-clad ninnies riding all over France.

Everyone kept griping about the coverage of the Giro and the TDF,
which NASCAR anouncer they were using etc. etc.. Now what is the
management of OLN supposed to do to please this very fickle crowd of
cyclist enthusiasts? I myself couldn't stand Bill Patrick I am sure
he's a great guy, buy not a professional cycling announcer.

So this group of cycling enthusiasts drops a turd into the OLN party
punchbowl and then are upset they aren't invited back? Why not a
message or two about how much we enjoyed the coverage they offered and
that you had a weekly party with all of your friends that didn't have
OLN tour coverage, but now those friends are subscribing to OLN for
the cycling coverage and the occassional bull goring.
