  1. Missed two weigh-ins and the home scales show a loss, but
last night the WW scales said no change...

    What I suspect is:

1: the home scales weigh light - as they are ancient and
rusty, this is no great surprise!

2: I probably DID have a loss last week, but as it's heading
for That Time again, I'm retaining a bit extra water...

3: I haven't been QUITE as good this week as I should have
been... A little too few points, not quite enough
exercise, more chocolate and less food than I ought to
    have had...

I've had trouble eating enough the last few days, craved
chocolate, and the fibro has been playing up. Never mind -
at least there has been no gain over all, and I have enough
sewing stuff to keep me moving for the next little while.
And at least I didn't see the disappointment of a loss
    followed by a gain!

I bought a new smiley face last night, too: let's see how
quickly this one can lose all its teeth! We have a little
challenge going on at my WW meeting: we buy an envelope with
a big grin drawn on it, with 7 teeth. For each pound we lose
from our start weight (mine being 12 st
4.5 lbs), we colour in a tooth. When they are all coloured
in, we get to open the envelope, inside which is a number.
We get a prize with that number on it. The prise can be
    cash (£5, £10... ), a free weigh in, a journal, a pack of
WW snack bars, a bottle of wine... There have even been a
couple of the new data bases! It's a great incentive to
keep going when things get a little tough. Our leader also
has a 'goodie bag' of booby prizes - body lotion and soap
and stuff! Whatever you win, you get cheered and we share
the giggle. The money we pay for the envelopes pays for
the prizes, and as she works this over several meetings,
the prize list can be quite impressive. Last night we also
raffled a set of point and weigh scales. I don't NEED new
kitchen scales, but these have lots of added features, and
    might be quite fun...

  2. So, on balance, you've maintained for 3 weeks then 🙂 And
that smiley face will be grinning back at you soon I'm sure
    - that sounds like ever such a good idea too. I may adapt
the idea somehow - it's always good to have some visible
tangible thing to motivate you 🙂 best of luck for next WI.

  3. Those kitchen scales are absolutely brill Kate - I bought
mine at my first meeting last year and would not be
    without them!

Very accurate, you can weigh in 10ths of an ounce if you
feel so inclined, also can "zero" the pan after each
ingrediant to make it easier to weigh out multiple
ingrediants into the same dish, I will often put a saucepan
on the scales and weigh the flour & margerine straight in
    when I do cheese sauce!

And of course, the built-in database that gives you the
points value of over 1000 foods - eg x ounces of potatoes
    equals y.y points...

As I said - can't live without them! Suzie B

It's the database aspect I'm interested in: being able to
point a cake as I weigh stuff out and all that! For accuracy
we have the Salter Aquatronics, which weigh in
kilos/lbs/lt/fl oz, and can be zero'd. They are also quite
'large' for kitchen scales, weighing up to 5 kilos.

Thanks! I really only obsess about food when preparing it
    or serving
it. The rest of the time I don't worry about it. It would
just take the hard work out of divining the point value
of a slice of Madeira cake, or a portion of lasagne, or
a chunk of home made carrot cake.
