I think (IMHO) they never made money on their cycling line. The market is far too fragmented for more of a generalist producer with no history in the sport.

Hardly anyone does make money from cycling unless you consider the advertising exposure which is speculative.

When I first took up riding I tried to buy some cycling shoes form a NIKE shop.
They said they didn't have any and said I should try a cycle shop. My sister in law worked at the shop as well.

Went to the cycle shop and bought a pair of SIDI and a pair of SHIMANO.

If Nike were to have put out their own bike it would probably have sold better than TREK as well....

Will now not buy any Nike products...

I think it's ashame to see Nikes cycling line go. I loved their products even though they were often fairly expensive. They had by far the best looking apparel (in my opinion) on the market.

I have never found anything by Nike to be of very good quality or design. Their shoes are made more for fashion than actual use--at least that's been my experience with trail running shoes. When they do get something right, it seems like it is purely by accident and they mess it up with next year's model.

I don't see them as a competitor at the high end, like Assos and Sidi, so they would just be one of many companies in the middle. The middle groiund is probably a rough market to do well in.

Yep those South East Asians on $1.20 an hour know how to make cycling clothes.... can't believe they want to stop... I mean for that sort of money that could start there own cycling clothing line....
