A shopowner treating a customer the correct way!

Last year my bikeshop owner immediately swapped a Deda Magic Stick seatpost that had broken, although it was well beyond the guarantee period. No questions, simply told his mechanic to switch it with a new one. 😎

For a 50-Euro value, he has ensured himself a customer who will spend 4-500 Euro on silly small parts every few months! 🙄

Yes, my local bike shop owner is a reasonable man - I do spend quite a bit of cash there between getting new parts/repairs etc.

Your local shop owner seems to be a reasonable guy too.

I hope it's not a problem with your seatpost that will be repeated on the new bolt - I've heard this is a problem with some post designs - American Classic is the oft repeated offender.

DS - seatpost looks fine and I had the LBS guy take a look at it (he builds bikes).
He the seat post was fine : and that the bolt fractured through wear and tear.
(12,000 miles last year didn't help!)

Yes…. A good thing to give the guy’s business a plug for a good turn well done.

I bought wheels from Riviera Cycles in Bairnsdale Vic. (Aus) and the rear rim developed cracks at the spoke holes. (way past the usual warranty period) Gary promptly got the manufacturers to cough up a new rim and mail it to me free of charge, no fuss….. That’s good business.

This site is littered with complaints about the treatment received from LBS.

I think that it is important to commend the LBS when it does the correct thing.

Ouch, what kind of seatpost was that? I read alot of bad things about the Campy carbons snapping when I was shopping, went with Easton instead. Breaking anything around the seatpost never sounds good.

Bianchi SanRemo aluminium seatpost.

The bolt that affixes the saddle to the seatpost went in it.

The single bolt design puts a lot more stress on the bolt - American Classic revamped theirs with a much bigger bolt (8mm vs 6mm I think) because so many broke.

I do have a job - I'm self employed.
But I entered in to a charity fund raising event - to cover 12,000 miles in a calendar year, 2005, to raise funds for a very worthy cause.

Caused a lot of strife though - mrs Limerickman was none too pleased when I brought my bike on holiday with us last year.

As regards seatposts, I was aware of American Classics re-design of their one.
But thanks for the info!

its a good thing you and Mrs Limerickman already have kids. that could have been a real downer in the family deperment.

too hot. In Scotland today its about 22C and i am dying!

Oh no that is not good. It is always good to get something for free. You probably have spent money there. Yeah you need to check everything on the bike quick before you take off to keep it safe.
