Can anyone suggest a one day biking sight-seeing journey for Nice,
France in early July? Would need to rent bikes as well. Hope that
someone can help.
Thanks.

Thanks so much. This ride along the beach is more of what I had in mind
but didn't
say so and I should have.

Well, that's a pleasant ride for the most part. I'd prefer the ride up
Col d'Eze, but it takes all kinds! There are some good resources to
check. The first is:
http://www.trentobike.org/bycountry/France.html
The other is the Rough Guide book "Cycling France" which has a variety
of routes.
In Lonely Planet's Cycling France there is one chapter about Nice that is
about the only worthwhile passage in the entire book (Ok, the parts on some
other places are worthy like some of the routes in and around Paris). It
recommends taking the train to Menton (IIRC) and biking back with a lot of
it being down hill. Absolutely fabulous views. I think a previous post
mentioned the climb into Eze and that may be optional on this ride. My cheat
for getting the info would be to go to the bookstore and read it because the
book has been in print unchanged for going on seven years old and I think
it's not a value. I gave my copy away in France to save weight.
Otherwise, you can tool all over Nice and down the Promenade d'Anglais,
along the beach, all the way to the airport. It gets a little dicey after
you get out of Nice proper though, if you stay on the highway.
