Thanks for posting, nice clip. Too bad you didn't have a spoke wrench
with you😉 At least you have proof of JRA.

Was that wicked noise you or the sound of the wheel failing?

    How are you after that?
I think you need to work on your expletives a little more, it was a
    bit indistinct :-)

the rim failed cause it broke right at the seam.. I only way about 150 160..
    With camera and stuff.

    What made you crash?

Nice video by the way, sorry about your luck!

Yeah, for sure the rim failed... there is no way with your weight, you hit
anything hard enough there to break it, from what I can see. Looks like

    you

caught just a small air off a tree root and the rim just folded when you
came down. I would send the video to Mavic and see if they offer you a new
    wheel.

Who says learning to wheelie is a useless skill?

  9. They liked the video but said that it just tacoed and buy a new wheel.

Who says learning to wheelie is a useless skill?

    Probably some roadie or non-cyclist.

Well, if it were me I would tell 'em it sure as hell wont be a Mavic next
    time. 🙂

And that I'll put in on my web site along with emails from Mavic saying
that's normal for their wheels... They were emails, no?

Then send it to Ritchie or somebody and see if *they'll* give you a free
    rim.... :-)

If Joseph wanted to push it, he could probably make Mavic squirm a bit. I
will be building up some wheels soon, and Mavic will not be on the list of
rims to buy, if their customer(NO)service is like he says.

While I don't often agree with Ralph Nader these days, there is one
statement he made long ago that stays with me:

"A customer's most powerful weapon is the 180 degree turn."

Perhaps a clipping of this exchange might change Mavic's mind....

BULLLLL.....SHIIIIIIT!!!! if that isn't JRA, I don't know what is.
Especially with front suspension, that wheel (if properly built) should
never have taco'ed and especially not have broken at the weld.

If that is the way they stand behind their product I will NEVER buy a
Mavic rim and encourage everybody I know to do the same.

Nice crash. Nice after-crash report. You should become a newsreader 😉

I had an old X138 that split at the rim, that was a couple of years ago,
and the rim only lasted about a year before it did that. Also a friends
Mavic 227 or something, started to split at the nipple holes. I havent had
any problems with my 521 rims in the last couple of years, but I recently
got a pair of AtomLab TrailPimp wheels and they rule.

Hey, I've got 223's on my bike and it's a Kona. I'd better stay off the
sidewalks or somebody might loose an eye.
