I'm new to this newsgroup (you can probably tell) and was wondering if any of you can help me. Simple question, what is the best newsreader software I should use? Currently using Outlook Express 6, but I think I seen on the Internet somewhere that Freeagent is better, is this true or should I stick with OE6?
I use "slrn", which is great, fast, text-mode and works a treat. I wouldn't use anything else. Comes with my operating system distrubution, as well, and it's free.
Dunno if it works on your operating system, though?

Certainly works on mine!

I'm using slrn at the moment, but it will take some time to get back to being used to its keypresses for the more advanced features. I used to always use trn, and quite like its tree display, so may install that again and have another go with it. Puty they don't all use the same .newsrc file anymore. Slrn seems to want a .jnewsrc instead. Otherwise you could mix and match at will and they'd all share the same knowledge of what you suscribed to and how much you'd read. As jnewsrc and newsrc seem to be the same structure, I may have a go at linking them together.
