About two weeks ago, Simon managed a rather spectacular crash. A member of his cycling club let me know, but I decided to wait until I had seen him before I posted anything here.
The details are (vaguely) as follows. He was descending on road with some friends from the club and failed to make one of the corners. He managed to collide with a rock resulting in a broken back and fractured wrist. Now destined for some time immobilised in hospital. Despite this, he actually managed to get back on the bike and ride another mile (Against the advice of a wiser member of the group) before finally accepting that he might have to stop.
Having been to see him today I can report that he is in remarkably good spirits. Toes still wiggle (And only when he wants them to) so all is good and shaping up for healing well. He sends his regards and is already itching to get back on the bike.
