Since Mel hasn't posted this for the past week, I hope she excuses me in
doing so.
________
Had a pretty good week. My short term goal is to work up to a consistent
20mpw and this week was supposed to be an 18 mile week, duplicating the
week before. Well I was right on schedule mileage-wise until Saturday,
the last day of my weekly log. Part way into the run which should have
been a 3 miler, I decided to extend it a bit and make it a 4 instead.
The weather was dry but cool at 50F, there was a good breeze (7mph) but
the running warmed me up nicely after 10 minutes or so.
I've noticed an interesting thing late last week and into this week - it
seems if I pick up the pace slightly the effort feels a little easier
and smoother. I try to keep it slow at 10-11min/mile but I found if I go
slightly faster at 9:30-10min/mile it just feels better with less of
that plodding feeling. My legs are more fatigued at the end of the
longer 4.5 mile runs, but my heart rate is still in the same general
range as before. Hmmmm.
Sun - day off
Mon - 4.5 miles
Tue - 3.0 miles
Wed - 3.0 miles
Thu - day off
Fri - 4.5 miles
Sat - 4 miles
....for a weekly grand total of 19 miles at an average pace of 9:54/mi.
My monthly total comes in at 70 miles which is a heck of a nice number
when compared to 49 for July when I began tracking my progress. 🙂
