  1. Does anyone have any experience of carrying 4 bikes on the back of an old shape (1999) Mondeo
Estate? I have an unused towbar/ball in place if that's any use. Thanks - Alan

I could never find a four bike sized rack (I actually needed a five bike sized rack) and used a
three bike sized one with roof bars and carried two on the car roof. Besides, the leverage on the
protruding arms get to be rather large if you could load a fourth bike making the rack rather heavy
    and cumbersome.

See the pages of www.roofbox.co.uk for the Tradekar Take 4

  4. Pendle do towbar mounted carriers in 2, 3 and 4 bike models. I've got a two-bike one and it's
excellent save for the mild annoyance of not being able to open the tailgate while it's attached.

I would strongly recommend the MAxxraxx tow bar attaching 4 bike carrier. I take 4 bikes across
France to Provence every summer on one of these, attached to a Mondeo Estate!

Each bike rests on a separate cradle, webbing straps over each bike & a cable padlocked over the
bikes for security, also lighting board attached to their own hanger. Works a treat. I even trust my
precious De Rosa on one of these ;-)

I carry 4 on the back of a Volvo 940 estate. A Tradekar Take 4 rack, cheap and cheerful, very
strong. Pendle racks are also well regarded. You may need spring assisters if you're going to put 4
    bikes on with any regularity.

www.roofbox.co.uk have been good in the past, some suggestions they may be less good now.
