    brakes. any advise on what brand i should get etc.?

    I'd go to www.mtbr.com and read the reviews.

    Then I'd find bike shops that had the ones I was interested in and test
    ride them.

    (Ellsworth). There are lots of nice bikes out there (Ellsworth). And
    I'm sure looking around your LBS you'll find something that works well.

    Try Rocky Mountain bikes. They have some great models.

    Is Tama the guy whose plumber friend was trying to sell him an
    Ellsworth, but he knew very little about them??

    Just don't have any warranty issues, as Tony (Ellsworth) can be a total
    putz.
