Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and live in Australia. I am now on
day 6 of Atkins and have a couple of questions I would like to put to
the group if that's okay?
Firstly, I was wondering what 1 oz of say Brie or Camembert cheese
would look like? (I don't have a scale small enough for measuring). I
can see that 1 oz usually is approx 2 tablespoons and I can measure
this when I grate the cheese but when I am cutting it up I am
wondering if it is about the size of a match box or similar?
Secondly, I am using the ketosis sticks and showing only in the
"small" section and I am testing several times a day. I am drinking
lots and lots of water too, but I have some small blood clot looking
things showing up on my left arm. I am wondering if this is due to the
change in my diet?
Thirdly, I lost 2 kg in the first 2 days, and then gained 1 kg back.
(I know I should only weigh once per week but I think the old
obsessive thinking is kicking back in. I will need to work on this
because it won't work for me if I think about food all the time and
this has happened on every other diet I have been on. Any suggestions
would be appreciated).
I am also very hungry. I am eating more now than I ever have to be
honest however I have read that this will settle down over the coming
weeks.
I have nearly finished reading Dr Atkins book and nearly finished the
FAQ's but I wanted to ask these questions and introduce myself as I
can see that this community could be a huge help to people trying to
adjust to a different lifestyle. I would like to be on this eating
programme for life and stop the yo yo dieting once and for all.
I am a 41 year old female, have CFS and depression, (so cannot go off
the medication just yet however I have lost weight on it previously
using weight watchers although I was miserable on that diet). I am 5ft
1.5 inches (156cms) and weigh 141 pounds (64kg). My goal weight would
be about 55kg so I would like to lose a further 9kg.
I have lost some weight this year (I was previously 76.5kg or168
pounds on a very small frame) because I went to a dietician who
diagnosed many food intolerances and allergies and put me on a very
strict diet for many weeks. I could no longer tolerate it so she
suggested that I try Atkins and see how I go.
I must say, apart from that 1 kg weight gain, I am totally loving it
although still fighting the sugar addiction a little each day.
Thank you in advance,
