Circuit Comp is Velomax's OEM wheel. Sounds like you got the OEM price on these; about what a builder sells them for along with the rest of the bike. Apparently your ebay seller is set up with an OEM account with Velomax, but then selling some leftover wheels directly.

Believe you'll find they are well-built wheels. I've had them on my new bike for over 5000 miles now, and they are still running true with no tuning required.

Only problem I've had is with the hub bearings. The cartridge-bearing hubs don't seem to be well sealed though, so you may want to pull the end caps back and check them after riding in heavy rain or other nasty stuff.

Glad to hear somebody is still looking for Reynolds tubing frames too...the legendary tube maker from the 30's seems to have recently lost the high-end market to Columbus, Deda, and True Temper.

Well, there is nothing that special about 853 anymore. It gets alot of hype and is available but there is plenty of comparable or better stuff. It takes more than a legend to stay at the head of the pack.

Sure there is lighter and/or stiffer stuff out there, but 853 on a really well-built frame still gets my beanie spinnin. My LBS has a Gunnar roadie (853) with a very cool purple/bluish paint job (irridescent so it looks silver or blackish depending on the light) for a steal. Someone ordered and skipped town. If 59cm is your size...

I agree, there are lighter and stiffer frames out there but a well built 853 "spins my beanie".

How much are they asking for the Gunnar???

The owner was hinting at ~600 for the frame and composite fork (don't remember what kind of fork it was). I think the frame/fork normally sell for around 900, with another 100 bucks or therebouts for the custom paint.
