A couple of links for you:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette

    http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/what-is/part1/

Or just Google Usenet to get thousands of links.

Just remember to have some thick skin....no matter what recipe you
should post...someone here will "claim" to have made it
    better...smarter...quicker.

    Post away! ...and happy reading.

    RFC is like a sewer,
What you get out of it
Depends on what you put in to it.

    Just have fun.

I would suggest installing a good newsreader - it will make your Usenet
experience much more enjoyable. Go to <http://www.newsreaders.com/> and
make your selection, preferably among the newsreaders with a GNKSA (Good
    Net-Keeping Seal of Approval) badge.

I heartily agree... While web based group reading might be a good
introduction, learning to "do it right" makes a world of difference.

I have my sister to thank for MT Newswatcher!
